Modern Bedroom Design: How To Make A Room Visually Larger
A simple visual trick that makes a room look bigger is matching curtains to the color of the walls and accent furniture.
The bedroom can become your favorite room in the house with a few simple ideas that will give you a sense of spaciousness, even if your room is a bit cluttered with furniture. Transform your sleeping area into the luxurious boudoir you've always dreamed of!
So how do you deal with the lack of space? Let's take a look at several ways.
Add multifunctional bedside tables
Swap your tiny lamp-only shelves for mini dressers on either side of the bed. It will not only be a place for a lamp, alarm clock, glasses and a mobile phone. Here you can also place small drawers for socks, underwear, ties, or even sweaters to unload closets. Add mirrors behind the lamps on the bedside table to create the illusion of a large space.
Use the space under the bed
Clutter is the enemy of open spaces, so get some long, lidded storage containers under your bed (wheeled containers are great for this) - use them to stow out of season shoes, clothes, or bags. Take them away and forget about them until you need them.
Use a wardrobe in the hallway
Behind the coats and jackets you store in your hallway closet, hide rarely used dresses and suits in hanging clothes bags. Store here evening gowns, tuxedos, interview suits - anything you don't use more than once or twice a year.
Choose items that are solid or similar in color
A simple visual trick that makes a room look bigger is matching curtains to the color of the walls and accent furniture. Paint the window frames to match the wallpaper. Lighter colors will create a sense of openness. If you have small accent pieces such as chairs, frames, or wood lamps, choose a paint color that is a shade lighter, darker, or match a palette.
